Bloubergstrand Tourism and Accommodation: Visitor Information Centre

The village lies at the foot of Blouberg (Blue Mountain) and has the most superb view of Table Mountain across the bay. The view is even more spectacular when a south-easterly wind is blowing resulting in a white ‘tablecloth’ is laid on Table Mountain. Robben Island can also be seen to the west.

A number of ships have lost their battle with the elements along this coast. The S.S. Hermes was wrecked just north of Milnerton Lighthouse. The Nieuw Haarlem wreck also lies near the Lighthouse and that of the Winton is closer to Milnerton itself. The wreck of the Reyfersdal lies off Silwerstroomstrand.

The beaches which include Dolphin Beach, Silwerstroomsand, Sunset Beach and Table View are popular with sun-worshippers for improving their tan and, of course, swimming and surfing. A surfing competition is held annually at Big Bay. These beaches are also very popular for wind-surfing and kite-surfing.
